Located in Calvert County on St. Johns
Creek you will find Annmarie Garden. Francis Koenig once owed this
30-acre piece of land. Despite the many offers from builders, Fran, as
he liked to be called, had a vision of a place where contemporary sculpture
and natural landscape could come together. In October 1993, the land
he had given to Calvert County after thirty-two years wa s
dedicated and a Sculpture and
Botanical Garden was born. Some of the
Garden's major events
include "Artsfest", "Gardenfest" and "Garden In Lights".
As you enter Annmarie Garden you are greeted with a gateway unique to this
attraction, as well as "Tribute to the Oyster Tonger", the garden's center
sculpture placed near the parking lot. Other areas in the Garden
include a visitor center and gallery, walkways, formal sculpture garden,
alleys that take you through the wooden landscape, thematic outdoor garden
rooms, an amphitheater, and a breath-taking view of St. John's Creek.
